What canvas to use for canvas printed dolls? - Hi, I print of some kids canvas art and was wondering if I could print and use the same stuff to make dolls or fancy pillows? The canvas is museum grade Canson poly/cotton blend 390gsm and printed with epson inks from a printer (worried this might damage, but these dolly's would be more decorative). Is the canvas to thick? Any suggestions on strong stitching to hold it all together? Any advice will be taken on board....

Re: Horse hair jewelry? - Hi Amy, I'm also interested in learning to do this. I've collected some hair as well. Most of the sites the other posters are mentioning only show you how to collect it (they're selling their services). I've just bought a book in ebay for this - hopefully it will help guide me. Maybe we can encourage each other? I've already shampooed ( twice) the hair want to work with. I did read on one of the sites mentioned that for a normal bracelet it takes 280 -340 strands. I also think you have to tie each one off at the end. Becky...

Re: Q: What are you making for the holidays? - They are great. I make them in lemon, eucalyptus and lavender scents, add jojoba oil and epson salts. I am addicted to taking baths with them and my family also appreciates them. I sell the soaps too, but not the fizzy balls yet. I nee to find a less expensive source for one of the ingredient. I assume it is the same one you were going to order online, citric acid? They are easy to make but the first time is a little tricky to get them to stick. If they disintegrate when you unmold them just add a little tiny bit more water....

Re: Q: What are you making for the holidays? - I have decided that since I am poor and need an economical gift .. I am embellishing bed sheets! I bought one set a month (more if there were sales) and then I bought fabric when the fabric store had sales. This way the cost was distributed throughout the year instead of all in Nov/Dec! On the kids' I used fabric to cover the top hem of the flat sheet. Then I cut off the hem on the pillow case and sewed that onto the fabric. For the adults I bought lace and bias tape and sewed that over the original stitching line on the sheet & pillowcase hems. I'll post pics when I'm finished!...

Re: Tutu patterns? - You have had many posts regarding your experience in tutu making and i have been very interested in what you have wrote. i to am trying to make a tutu and do actually have a pancake tutu to copy at home so can see what you mean by the way a hoop has been sewn in. Please could i however ask if you could forward to me your discripton in how to sew together the net to the briefs. I am trying to work out your ratios with regards to how long the netting has to be for each layer but would also like to know how i calculate how wide the tutu needs to be in reference to the size of the person that will be wearing it. can you also let me kow how you press your netting and if you use any product on the net in order for it to remain in shape. I have a basic understanding of how to do it in my head but these are the few question that i need answering before i start and as you have been so helpful to others over the past years was hoping that you might have the answers i need. I loo...

Re: Embroidery classes - In LA we have The Learning Annex, also many high schools have evening classes that are not just the 3 R's (I took a book binding class) Also try art colleges, they will also have a curriculum for "housewives" in the evenings. See who offers what and then see if they will take on your class....
